Jungle Safari at Rajaji National Park

Rajaji Tiger Reserve - Chilla Zone

Thrilling wildlife safari in Rajaji Tiger Reserve with expert guides — spot tigers, elephants, leopards & 400+ birds in the Shivalik wilderness.

About This Activity

Embark on a thrilling jeep safari into the wild heart of Rajaji Tiger Reserve — one of North India's premier wildlife destinations just 18 km from Rishikesh. Spanning over 820 sq km across the Shivalik foothills, this UNESCO-recognized biodiversity hotspot is home to around 12 Royal Bengal Tigers, 500+ Asian Elephants (the park's flagship species), and 250+ leopards.

Your 3-hour safari adventure begins at one of the park's scenic zones — Chilla (closest to Rishikesh), Motichur, Jhilmil, or Mohand. As your open-top Gypsy navigates through dense Sal forests, riverine grasslands, and terai ecosystems, an experienced naturalist guide shares fascinating insights about the park's ecology.

Watch for spotted deer (chital), sambar, barking deer, nilgai, wild boar, and langurs. The park is equally famous for two bear species — Himalayan Black Bear and Sloth Bear. Birders will be delighted with 400+ species including Great Hornbills, Kingfishers, Pied Harriers, and migratory waterfowl at Jhilmil Jheel.

The Chilla zone offers elephant herds crossing the Ganga, while Jhilmil's grasslands provide excellent swamp deer and elephant sightings. Whether you're a first-time safari-goer or seasoned wildlife enthusiast, Rajaji delivers an authentic wilderness experience with the majestic Himalayas as backdrop.
